tentree is a company started by a few young Saskatchewan business students who had a dream of helping the planet through purchasing power. The company is “founded on the premise that every consumer wants to know that they are contributing to the wellbeing of our planet.”
Their goal is to enable the consumer to impact environmental issues through purchasing power, and they are the definition of Anna Lappé’s quote, “Every time you spend money, you’re casting a vote for the kind of world you want.” tentree plants 10 trees per every product purchased and, through their online platform, customers can see where those trees are being planted and the positive impact that is being made.
To maximize environmental efforts, tentree has partnered with several not-for-profits around the world, including the Canadian Wildlife Federation, WeForest, American Forests, Eden Reforestation, Trees for the Future, and more.
tentree not only takes a stand for the environment, but they also take a stand in the production of their products – using factories that are WRAP approved, tentree ensures they work only with socially and environmentally responsible factories. Fair work hours, no child labour, and fair compensation are just a few other practices that defend the hands that make their products.
